CUTLERY I transform utensils from everyday use into perplexing abstractions, accentuating the dents, finger prints, and evidence of abrasions. Elongated shadows, cast by a single studio light, elevate the utilitarian nature of the serving ware into two-dimensional obscurities. My framing breaks the objects into segmented repetitive sets of object and shadow, altering the perception of the cutlery. These deliberately simplified forms emphasize geometry, embodying the modernist objective of reimagining the material world.
